"Just this side of Heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. The Bridge connects Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved animal dies who has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. All our specail friends are warm and comfortable. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole and strong again. All the animals who had been ill are restored to health and vigor, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: They miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the nose twitches; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to breakaway from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head. And you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together..."
